snipe is a small compiler written in SML. It compiles from
a C-like language called L5, and targets x86_64. It was written as part of
Frank Pfenning's
Fall
'08 compiler design class along with Chris Lu, and has been (or, rather,
will be) extended from there.
The name
snipe has no particular meaning; any meaning that it might
have is pretty much an in joke, and you shouldn't pay much attention to it.
It needed a name other than
l5c, and
snipe was the
first thing that came to mind.
